Campaign Meter

Campaign Meter is a proof-of-concept project developed using Joomla!. The client, Fantastic Appeal LLC, wanted a flexible design that suitably could showcase a Twitter-based metrics analyzer, which uses key word searches to measure the potential effect that Tweets have on the chatter of followers. Using a PHP and SQL-based backend scripted by the client in advance, in conjunction with Joomla! and the SVG-based XML/SWF Charts plugin, the metric analyzer is capable of giving live feed-back on chatter related to a potential client’s marketing campaign.

My goal was to design a website that was standards-compliant, cross-browser compatible, and evoked the style and themes of Twitter’s website, without being a copycat. In terms of the latter, I wanted to present something that felt indelibly “Twitter”-esque, yet with a more professional, less bubbly, edge, considering that the project is being designed as a business and marketing tool, rather than a direct social networking app. Hence, the logo combines both an iconic bird-icon often used to represent Twitter, as well as some stylized 3D bar graphs that look a little like skyscrapers shooting through the clouds.

Overall, I’m pretty pleased with the way the project turned out, and working with Fantastic Appeal LLC was an enjoyable experience. Furthermore, it marked my introduction to using Joomla! as a module-based content management system, allowing me to become fairly comfortable with its interface, as well as its backend system of custom APIs.
